Dear Estrella,

I have a problem. I am part of two different friend groups and they both want to wear a different set of group costumes for Halloween. I feel really bad picking one over the other and I don’t want to wear a costume that doesn’t match with anyone. What should I do???

Two Friend Groups

Dear Two Friend Groups:

It seems to me like you are a very considerate friend and love your friends dearly. I’m sure they are aware of this too. If I was in this position, I would talk to both friend groups at different times and tell them the situation first. If both friend groups are having events on the same day, wear a basic ‘fit that can then be accessorized to look more like the group ‘fits.

For example, if you’re going to be a firefighter with one of your friend groups, wear all black and wear a firefighter vest with the helmet. Quickly shift accessories for the other group if you’re going to be, for example, a fairy. Put on the wings and tutu for photos and even go to both events, just leave earlier.

There will always be compromise and trade-offs in your everyday life, but nothing is an obstacle! Hope this helped!
