Does it ever occur to you that our everyday water bottles are more than just a source of hydration, but are actually significant statements about our personalities?
At DePaul Prep, the variety of water bottles such as Stanley’s, Owalas, and plastic water bottles, are as diverse as the students and staff who carry them around the halls. Depaul Prep students and staff shared their favorite day to day water bottles that keep them hydrated throughout the busy school day.
Jonathan Braun, Music/STEAM teacher, shares that his preferred brand of water bottle is Ello.
“I like the brand Ello because the bottle itself is made of glass, and I like how eco-friendly it is and how it’s not too big or not too small.” Braun shares.
Braun also adds how ideal the Ello glass water bottle is for him. As a music teacher, leading rehearsals, and constantly projecting your voice is a definite need for constant hydration.
“Especially as a choir teacher, it is not rare for me to refill my water bottle four to five times a day.” Braun adds.
Freshman Hadley Piejak shares her true passion for the Stanley water bottles.
“The design and the color of my water bottle is important to me since I like having a cute colorful and vibrant bottle to carry around during my long school days,” Piejak shares.
The Stanley’s are definitely a popular choice at Depaul Prep and range from sizes 20-40 ounces. You can usually spot Stanley’s getting refilled and causing long lines at the water fountains.
Piejak also shares, “My Stanley really motivates me to drink more water, and I tend to refill my Stanley at least three times per school day, I try to drink almost 4 of these a day.”
Caleigh O’Neil, learning specialist, and JV girls Lacrosse Coach shares her love for what she calls a “Fake Stanley”.
“I usually prefer this metal water bottle, or “Fake Stanley”, because the metal does tend to keep my water colder throughout the day,” O’Neill shares.
O’Neill adds, “I love all colors so I’m pretty flexible when it comes to designs. As long as it holds my water I’m good with it!”
For some people, any water bottle works, hydro flasks, mugs, or even the plastic bottled water from the dining hall, as long as you’re staying refreshed and hydrated!
Sophomore Sara Murphy gives insight on her choice of water bottle, the Starbucks cup.
“I don’t really prefer a specific type of water bottle, because this cup is just plastic and it still keeps my water cold and keeps me refreshed throughout the day so any type of water bottle really works for me,” Murphy shares.
The variety of water bottles also help to add a pop of color to the school. The different designs on our water bottles all show a little bit of who we are.
“The design is pretty important to me because drinking out of a cute cup motivates me to drink more water throughout the day. I also love the purple straw that adds to the aesthetic of the cup!” Murphy adds.
Math teacher Greg Finger shares his preferred water bottle, a Yeti. The Yetis, like most metal bottles, keep the water cool throughout a long day of teaching.
Finger shares, “The colors are relevant, but the design of the mouth of the bottle is very important, providing easy access to being able to drink the water.”
Freshman Ivy Lishnich shares her own experience with the Flip Straw Tumbler Stanley, 30 ounce water bottle.
“The straw and the handle are the most useful parts of the water bottle. The straw being extendible is so handy since it decreases the amount of germs. The handle makes it so much easier to carry the bottle around school,” Lishnich adds.
The Flip Straw Tumblers are making their way. The common Stanley’s bottles do have their complaints, some say they are heavy and often say they leak. Whereas the Flip Straw Tumblers are very easy to carry and the straw doesn’t leak.
Lishnich shares, “I chose this water bottle today because it keeps my water cold, holds a good amount of water, and is perfect for taking to soccer practice.”
