Starbucks is one of the most popular places to buy a coffee, refresher, frappuccino, pastry, breakfast sandwich, and more.
Usually around the springtime, Starbucks is especially popular for students. In the mornings, students tend to carry around coffees and refreshers to their classes to get them through these hard, stressful days leading up to finals.
The other day I was grabbing Starbucks with one of my friends before school, and I thought about all the Starbucks locations in the neighborhood. The three closest Starbucks to school are the Starbucks on Roscoe and Damen, Western and Addison, and the one inside of the Mariano’s right by DePaul Prep.
All three Starbucks have their own pros such as Roscoe having a nice sit down area to enjoy your drink and get your homework done, Western having a drive-thru so you can grab your drink and go, and Mariano’s being a minute away walk from school.
Since so many students have Starbucks every morning, I was curious to see which Starbucks students preferred out of the three closest ones to school, and what they rated the Starbucks in order from one being the best to third being the worst.
Sophomore Emma Lane explained how she preferred the Starbucks on Roscoe. “I feel like the Roscoe Starbucks is less busy and there is something about the drinks there that tastes so good,” Lane said. She rated the Starbucks in order from Roscoe being first, Western second, and Mariano’s third.
Similarly, Sophomore Brooke Eizraeli said that she preferred the Starbucks on Roscoe. “I like the Starbucks on Roscoe. I think that the workers are the nicest there,” Eizraeli explained. She rated the Starbucks in the same order as Lane. Roscoe being first, Western second, and Marianos coming in third.
Sophomore Emerson Lane explained that she liked the Starbucks on Roscoe the most. “I prefer the Roscoe Starbucks because I think that it’s more clean and cozy inside.” Lane said.
Lane shared her opinion about the workers at the Starbucks on Roscoe. Lane said, “They are very good at their job and they are always so nice to me.”
Lane’s go to order at Starbucks is a Strawberry Açaí refresher with light ice and no strawberry inclusion. “The workers put their heart and soul into that refresher for me,” Lane explained.
Along with the other students, Lane rated the Starbucks in order as Roscoe being first, Western second, and Mariano’s third. Lane explained her opinion about the Starbucks in Marianos. “I just think that it is gross in there and there’s nowhere to sit,” Lane shared.
Junior Hudson Hogan had a different preferred Starbucks that wasn’t the Starbucks on Roscoe. “I prefer the Western Starbucks,” Hogan explained. She said that she liked Starbucks for multiple reasons. “I like it because it’s close to school and it has a drive through,” Hogan shared. I mean who wouldn’t want to go to a drive through for their drink!
Hogan rated the Starbucks in order as Western being number one, Roscoe in second, and Mariano’s in third place. “I don’t like the Starbucks in Marianos just because it’s in Mariano’s,” Hogan said.
As we can see from these students, the Starbucks on Roscoe seems to be the winner for the top neighborhood Starbucks to go to. According to most students, Roscoe is clean, the workers are nice, it has plenty of space to relax and enjoy your drink, and most importantly, the drinks taste extra good!
Recently, the Starbucks on Roscoe has been closed due to renovations. Since the Starbucks on Roscoe is such a popular place for students to get their drinks at, this is disappointing for some people. This may affect students’ routines in the morning, as they will have to leave earlier to go to another Starbucks. Luckily, there are other Starbucks close to school that are just as good!
Next time you are contemplating whether you should get starbucks or not, get it! Take advice from the students here at DePaul Prep and go to the Starbucks on Roscoe, or go to the drive- thru on Western to get your drink!
