Fall is a time full of activities to embrace the beautiful season and to have fun. Activities such as visiting pumpkin patches, corn mazes, and apple picking, are popular fall attractions for all ages. For people who like a good scare, haunted houses are an exciting but scary experience consisting of terrifying actors and decorations.
With fall coming to a close, the DePaul Prep Rams have done a lot of different fall related activities over the past month. Goebbert’s pumpkin patch is a popular attraction for people in the Chicago area. Located in Pingree Grove, Illinois, Goebbert’s offers many fall activities such as pumpkin picking, a corn maze, wagon rides, a petting zoo, and more.
Junior Cameron Tassone visits Goebbert’s every fall with her friends. The pumpkins she and her friends gather from Goebbert’s are used in a pumpkin carving contest she has with her friends at home. “We see who can carve the best face or cartoon character,” Tassone said. Tassone explained that she loves the pumpkins from Goebbert’s because they are freshly picked and grown. “It is so fun picking out the pumpkins you want, especially with your friends,” said Tassone.
A major fall activity that kids and teenagers tend to love around Halloween time is the Fright Fest that six flags holds every year. Fright fest is a seasonal event that creates the large amusement park into a scary fantasy. When walking from ride to ride, people can see scary actors in costumes, eerie smoke, and spooky decorations. Fright Fest is a fun way to enjoy the rides but also get a good scare.
Junior Olivia Tray visited Fright Fest this year with her friends. “I hadn’t been since 8th grade, but it was so worth it to go back,” said Tray. Tray loves going on the rides and looking at all the decorations the park is filled with.
Junior Lucia Trautman also visited Fright Fest with her friends this October. Trautman loves going to Six Flags in the summer but she especially loves it in the fall because of the scary characters roaming the park. “The chainsaw men were definitely the scariest people at the park,” Trautman said.
These activities are a great way to spend the fall time with your friends. Even though fall is coming to a close, there is still time to try out some of these fun activities before it gets too cold.
